Fragmentos' Tróia 37 House: A Dune-Responsive Retreat in Portugal
Nestled near the dunes and coastline of Tróia, Portugal, the architectural firm Fragmentos has finalized the Tróia 37 House, a private single-family retreat. This residence is set back from the waterfront, featuring staggered, overlapping forms that face east towards the sea and the Arrábida mountains' outline across the estuary. The design thoughtfully engages with the site's dune flora, wind patterns, and expansive views, treating these elements as opportunities rather than challenges. Completed in 2025, the house spans 342 m² and was spearheaded by architect Duarte Pinto-Coelho, alongside Fernando Flora. Engineering support was provided by Fragmentos and 360 Engenharia, while Greengest and Ana Videira handled landscape architecture. Project management was conducted by FFC Gestão de projetos imobiliários, LDA, and ECM Engenharia e Construção, LDA served as the general contractor. The project was curated by Susanna Moreira and captured in photographs by Adalberto Duarte. This residence is classified under residential architecture, specifically as a house.
