Foster + Partners Unveils Twin Skyscrapers Linked by Garden Bridges for World Trade Center Yerevan

architecture-design · 2026-10-23

World Trade Center Yerevan, designed by Foster + Partners, features two glass skyscrapers connected by three enclosed bridges in Armenia's capital. One tower will serve as office space, while the other will accommodate apartments and a hotel. The bridges provide shared amenities, including landscaped terraces for residents. A concrete frame with steel bracing and a split core allows for adaptable interiors, with the towers oriented towards significant landmarks such as the National Assembly of Armenia and Mount Ararat. At the base, low-rise structures offer entertainment, dining, and shopping around a public square, with a green axis from a nearby park leading to the towers' podium. Senior partner Niall Dempsey emphasized the design's connection to Armenian history, allowing for 50 percent of the site to remain open. Partner Juan Frigerio mentioned an events plaza that interacts with St John the Baptist Church. This site is part of a master plan established in 1924 by architect Alexander Tamanian, who envisioned Yerevan as a garden city. Foster + Partners has also proposed Two World Trade Center in New York and an aerotropolis near Luanda, Angola.
