Forty years of Aboriginal protest posters from Ray Jackson collection

A collection of Aboriginal protest posters spanning forty years, assembled by activist Ray Jackson, is featured in an exhibition. The posters include works by artists such as Tracey Moffatt, Peter Chester, Colin Russell, and collectives like Redback Graphix and Without Authority. They address issues including the Australian Bicentenary, Aboriginal deaths in custody, racism, HIV/AIDS discrimination, and international solidarity with Palestine and Northern Ireland. Jackson, a Wiradjuri elder, trade unionist, and communist, was a key figure in the NSW Aboriginal Deaths in Custody Watch Committee and founded the Indigenous Social Justice Association Sydney. The exhibition, titled 'Ray Jackson Doing Time with Penrith Miers Archive', runs until 2 August. Highlights include 'Tall Ships Tall Stories' (1987) featuring a quote from Moffatt, 'We Have Survived! White Australia Has a Black History' (1988) by Chester, and 'Robert Walker' (circa 1987) honoring the poet who died in Fremantle prison.
