Former Shop Transformed into School in Čebín, Czech Republic
In the village of Čebín, located 15 kilometers northwest of Brno and home to around 2,000 residents, a former convenience store from the 1970s has been converted into the Čebín Primary School, a project by knesl kynčl architekti. Finished in 2025, the three-story structure, previously run by Jednota, now serves 120 students and includes classrooms, offices, a kitchen, and a dining hall capable of serving 500 meals daily. The design retains the first two floors and features a central atrium for better vertical circulation. Plans for future expansion involve acquiring an adjacent property. The building is constructed with sustainable materials and utilizes air-water heat pumps, targeting energy self-sufficiency for the community. It secured third place in the South Moravian Region Building of the Year 2025 contest.
