Former KKK Building in Fort Worth to Become Arts Center by Studio Barnes and Ch_studio

Designs have been revealed by Studio Barnes, Ch_studio, GFF, and JIMA Studio to repurpose a 1920s structure in Fort Worth, Texas, previously associated with the Ku Klux Klan, into the Transform 1012 Center for Arts and Community Healing. This 35,000-square-foot facility will act as a center for local arts and cultural organizations, featuring a theatre, makerspaces, classrooms, dance studios, a bar and café, as well as an outdoor amphitheatre. The initiative seeks to address the site’s troubling past while maintaining the original brick exterior and incorporating modern features. The programming will focus on communities impacted by KKK violence, including Black, Catholic, Hispanic, immigrant, Jewish, and LGBTQ+ populations. Construction is anticipated to start in summer 2027, with a winter 2028 opening.
