architecture-design · 2026-10-05

Kouichi Kimura Architects, under the name FORM, has finalized the Minimalist House, a 71.56 sqm dwelling designed for an individual in Shiga, Japan. This project comprises a two-story primary structure and a single-story annex, both connected by a glass corridor that offers an uninterrupted view from the street to the lake. The design prioritizes fundamental areas while allowing natural elements like light, sound, wind, and views to influence the interior. The main structure features a kitchen and dining space on the ground floor, with a living room and bedroom above, linked by a double-height area. The annex houses the washroom and shower. The total site area measures 271.10 sqm. Norihito Yamauchi captured images of the project, which was featured in designboom's DIY section, edited by Christina Vergopoulou.
