Forgotten Tools of Trentino Valleys Exhibited as Authorless Design

Alessio Ramundo is set to unveil 'Utensili Obliati' (Forgotten Tools) at Palazzo Migazzi in Cogolo di Peio, Italy, from 4 July to 27 September 2026. This exhibition features a collection of outdated tools from the linen and woodworking industries in Val di Peio and Val di Sole, gathered over five years of research. Hailing from Val di Peio and a graduate of NABA Milan, Ramundo presents these items as 'design without an author,' highlighting their craftsmanship. The exhibition is organized into two mirrored spaces: one illustrating the linen process from seed to spinning, and the other depicting wood's journey from forest to workshop. Ramundo’s minimal wooden display architecture allows the tools to take center stage. He emphasizes that the true loss lies not in the tools themselves but in the intangible cultural heritage—knowledge passed down through practice. His goal is to showcase Val di Peio and Val di Sole as regions that nurture a distinctive culture of craftsmanship rather than mere tourist spots. This exhibition resonates with Delcy Morelos's earthwork 'origo' at London's Barbican, which similarly advocates for traditional craftsmanship over digital methods.
