Fondazione Antonio Dalle Nogare Revisits 60 Years of Minimalism in Bolzano
Sixty years after Primary Structures: Younger American and British Sculptors opened at the Jewish Museum in New York in 1966, the Fondazione Antonio Dalle Nogare in Bolzano inaugurates Primary Structures / Multiple Systems. 60 anni di Minimalismi on 17 October 2026 at 11.00. Curated by Eva Brioschi, the exhibition remains on view until 30 December 2028. The 1966 show, curated by Kynaston McShine, established a generation of artists including Donald Judd, Carl Andre, Dan Flavin, Robert Morris and Sol LeWitt around formal reduction as an act of freedom, seriality as thought and objectivity as poetics. From that moment, Minimalism became not merely a style but a shared, transversal alphabet that outlived its own obituaries. The Bolzano project takes this anniversary as its starting point, drawing on the Dalle Nogare Collection. Rather than a celebratory homage, it is conceived as an attempt at historical reconsideration.
