Fondation Martell Presents 'The Monkey and the Clay' Exploring Interspecies Collaboration

Fondation d'entreprise Martell in Cognac will present two new projects from June 2026, including the thematic exhibition 'The Monkey and the Clay' curated by Émilie Villez. The exhibition brings together nine international artists—Aki Inomata, Jessica Warboys, Trevor Yeung, Shimabuku, Tania Candiani, Bagus Pandega, Agnieszka Polska, Lin May Saeed, and Robert Zhao Renhui—to explore interspecies collaboration through works that challenge human exceptionalism. Atelier CRAFT designed a sensory scenography using organic materials like tree bark, while Théo Génin created the graphic system 'Designed by a Tree' inspired by Bjørn Karmann's typographic research. The second project, 'The Planctonarium,' is an immersive installation by Studio BehaghelFoiny focusing on phytoplankton blooms. The exhibition runs until January 3, 2027.
