Fondation Louis Vuitton Showcases Ten Van Goghs from Gustave Fayet's Pioneering Collection

exhibition · 2026-05-29

On October 9, the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris launches "Gustave Fayet: Collector - Artist Designer," which will run until March 8, 2027. This is the first exhibition dedicated to the French collector, featuring over 600 pieces, with 250 displayed across four levels. A standout aspect of the show is ten Van Gogh paintings that Fayet collected between 1901 and 1909. Bernard Arnault praised Fayet as "one of the best-kept secrets in the history of Modern art." Fayet was a versatile figure—collector, painter, winemaker, and designer. Key Van Gogh works include Self-portrait with Bandaged Ear and Pipe, Public Garden in Arles, and The Large Plane Trees, along with 78 pieces by Gauguin. Meanwhile, the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam plans renovations from autumn 2028 to 2031.
