Fjällräven Taps Miscellaneous Adventures for Hand-Stitched Banners at 2026 Classic UK Trek

other · 2026-10-05

Fjällräven commissioned Emma and Andrew Groves, the duo behind Miscellaneous Adventures, to create signage for its 2026 Classic UK trek. The couple, based in the Lake District for 15 years, hand-sewed five large fabric banners using a domestic sewing machine and a hazel pole for hanging in the Langdales. Designs began with sketches of local scenery, simplified into bold shapes, then turned into paper templates and cut by hand. Small pieces were secured with glue, and larger ones pinned before being sewn using appliqué. The fabric came from offcuts and donated material collected from outdoor brands, including Fjällräven's own G-1000. The Classic UK trek, held each September, covers 50km over three days from Great Langdale to Muncaster. Emma and Andrew have been involved since its first edition. They also served as Nature Guides during the event, assisting hundreds of hikers and distributing a nature bingo card with eight wildlife species. The project follows their workshops with Japanese brand Montbell. In their newsletter, they thanked Richard Smith from Fjällräven for trusting in creativity and the handmade. Miscellaneous Adventures will host a Noticing Nature Slow Adventure workshop in the Lake District on 24 October.
