Five Must-See Art Exhibitions in Japan This Summer
Japan will host five notable art exhibitions during the summer of 2026. Kicking off in Aomori, the Towada Art Center will feature Tsubaki Noboru’s solo exhibit, focusing on his innovative works that engage with societal issues, running from June 6 to November 8. Nearby, Hirosaki MOCA will present KAZAMA Sachiko's debut major exhibition in Tohoku, showcasing her distinctive black-and-white woodblock prints from June 5 to November 15. The Niigata City Art Museum will highlight Takehisa Yumeji's oeuvre with approximately 200 pieces from his collection from June 13 to August 30. In Kanazawa, the 21st Century Museum will celebrate The Rojo Society's 40th anniversary, running from April 25 to September 6, while the Tottori Prefectural Museum will honor Jiro Taniguchi from July 11 to August 30 with original works and manuscripts.
