Five Free London Shows: Pia Camil, Mark Leckey, Marcin Dudek, Cindy Sherman, Nicola Turner

exhibition · 2026-10-22

Pia Camil's first UK solo show, Bestia, at Elizabeth Xi Bauer (until 22 November), features paintings of sexual freedom and a large inflatable Lady Godiva that rises and falls. The Guardian's Eddy Frankel calls it a feminist reclamation of eroticism, shocking for its joy rather than its explicitness. At St Chads Projects (until 28 November, by appointment via Instagram), Mark Leckey presents The Last Leg of the Final Eschaton, an unfinished found-footage video linking medieval cultists, 1960s hippy gigs and millennial raves, starting from a Uccello painting and veering into conspiracy theories and stock market crashes. Marcin Dudek's Pawilon at Edel Assanti (until 12 December) recreates a Polish supermarket with rusted metal walls, a dead mouse and excavated debris, exploring his 1980s housing-estate youth and the arrival of capitalism in 1989. Cindy Sherman's new photographs at Hauser & Wirth (until 23 December) show wealthy, elderly women in repose, draped in fabrics and jewels from the Chanel archive, a commission that Frankel finds uncomfortably close to advertising. Nicola Turner's I Tear Secrets from Your Yielding Flesh at Annely Juda features massive coils of hair and wool, addressing medical procedures, grief and the body. All five exhibitions are free.
