The method, employed by Leaf Panel, modifies wood cells with acetic anhydride to prevent water absorption and improve dimensional stability. Five houses exemplify this material's integration with concrete, metal, and glass: Casa VE (2025) on Lago Rupanco combines metal cladding with wood; Casa Q-21 (2022) in Santiago features acetylated wood brise-soleil on a concrete facade; Casa Bosque (2019) uses metal cladding over acetylated wood in a forest; Casa AD 23 (2019) by the sea employs Leaf Panel exterior cladding; and casa t+a (2018) in Chicureo has a double-skin facade with vertical wood slats that filter 50-100% of solar radiation. The projects highlight acetylated wood's role in reducing carbon footprint, extending lifespan, and adapting to diverse climates.
