Finestreria: Making Art Collecting Accessible in Milan

Claudia Ponzi founded Finestreria as an online open call in 2020 during the pandemic, transforming it into a physical gallery in Milan in 2022. The space, named for its three large street-facing windows, aims to create an osmotic dialogue between inside and outside. Ponzi, a NABA graduate who initially aspired to be an artist, renovated a dilapidated former Unicredit building. The gallery hosts exhibitions, courses, and cinema nights (Visioni Oltre, curated with Irene Follador) blending video art and short films. Ponzi seeks artists connected to silence and nature, favoring works that demand sensitive listening. Currently showing Mauro Valsecchi, a former academy classmate, whose technique involves pressing pigment into paper or wood, erasing parts, and fixing with lacquers. Together they won the Premio Massimiliano Galliani per il Disegno. Ponzi targets a broad collector base, from entrepreneurs to professors, with works on paper starting at €100–200, canvases from €400–1,000, and larger pieces up to €10,000–15,000, aiming to make collecting inclusive.
