Filmoteca de Catalunya Examines Five Decades of Feminism Through Moving Images

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Primeres Jornades Catalanes de la Dona, the Filmoteca de Catalunya in Barcelona is hosting the exhibition 'Feminismes fílmics. 1976-2026.' Curated by Alexandra Laudo, this event will be available until November 29 and explores the impact of feminism on audiovisual production in Catalonia over the past fifty years. The exhibition includes a remontage of clips from more than 50 creators, such as Eugènia Balcells and Carla Simón, arranged into nine thematic projection areas that reflect discussions from the 1976 Universitat de Barcelona conference. It emphasizes the historical backdrop and initiatives connecting feminism with audiovisual culture, featuring materials from Ca la Dona and the Arxiu Nacional de Catalunya, and positions cinema as a medium for reflection and representation.
