Film Studies Student Creates Botanical Drawing Guide for Museum Educational Program

Ivan Dmitriev, a University of Manchester Film Studies master's student, completed a digital placement with Llandudno Museum and Gallery where he developed an educational botanical art project. He created step-by-step drawing guides using storyboarding techniques to introduce secondary school students to botanical illustration. The project included a historical overview of botanical art and featured drawings of two local plants: Tufted Vetch and the critically endangered Great Orme Berry. These artworks will become part of the museum's permanent collection and be displayed in their Biodiversity Garden summer house. Dmitriev worked under the guidance of placement coordinator Dr. DeAnn Bell, developing materials that aim to foster appreciation for both artistic practice and botanical conservation.
