FIFDA 2026: African Diaspora Films on Memory and Colonialism in Paris
The 16th Festival International des Films de la Diaspora Africaine (FIFDA) is set to take place in Paris from September 4 to 6, 2026. This year, the festival will present 15 films hailing from 13 different nations, such as Belgium, Quebec, and France. Among the highlighted films is "Métisses - Cinq femmes contre un crime d'État," co-directed by Jean-Charles Mbotti Malolo and Quentin Noirfalisse, which tells the story of five Congolese women who were kidnapped in their childhood because of their mixed heritage and are now pursuing justice against Belgium. Additionally, Joseph Hillel's documentary "Tricoté serré crépu" explores the Haitian community's migration to Quebec in the 1960s and 1970s. The event will also include a musical segment, "Le hit de la semaine," hosted by Sadio Doucoure, and was featured on RFI's "Sur le pont des arts."
