Field Studio Transforms 200-Year-Old Kuldīga Building into Ausma Hotel
Field Studio has completed Ausma Hotel, a 2,000 m² boutique property in the historic center of Kuldīga, Latvia, by reusing a building more than 200 years old. The project, curated by Nina Vuga, falls under hospitality architecture, hotels, and adaptive reuse, and is scheduled for completion in 2026. Lead architects Janis Andersons, Danna Degle, and Diana Zalane led the design team, which also included Laura Deruma, Līva Kenkle, and Ansis Paeglītis. The architects describe the intervention as continuing the existing building's story through restoration, local crafts, and a new layer of design. Photographs of the project were taken by Daniel Kochkin. The hotel is located in Kuldīga's historic center, a setting that underscores the adaptive reuse approach.
