Fidel Castro Exhibition at Palazzo Bisaccioni in Jesi Traces a Century of History

From June 12 to November 22, 2026, Palazzo Bisaccioni in Jesi, Italy, hosts the exhibition "Fidel: storia di un leader – L'uomo che sfidò il secolo," dedicated to Fidel Castro Ruz. Promoted by the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Jesi in collaboration with the Centro Fidel Castro Ruz, with patronage from the Cuban Embassy in Italy and the Marche Region, and support from the Associazione Para un Principe Enano, the show is curated by Mauro Tarantino and René González Barrios. It marks the centenary of Castro's birth and the tenth anniversary of his death. The chronological display features documents, photographs, films, personal objects, and archival materials covering his origins in eastern Cuba, university years in Havana, opposition to Fulgencio Batista, the 1953 Moncada Barracks assault, the July 26 Movement, meeting with Che Guevara, the Granma expedition, and the 1959 revolution. Post-revolution transformations include agrarian reform, literacy campaigns, healthcare reorganization, and economic shifts. International relations cover tensions with the US, alliance with the Soviet Union, and the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis. Personal aspects include Castro's ties to sports, culture, art, intellectuals, and world leaders. Later years address the post-Soviet collapse, Cuba's Special Period, and dialogue with the Catholic Church including papal visits. The exhibition aims not to celebrate or condemn but to foster critical understanding.
