FIC Festival Opens in Rivas with Punk, Melancholy, and Political Protest

The Festival de las Ideas y la Cultura (FIC) opened its first day in Rivas-Vaciamadrid, Spain, featuring performances by Señora!, Ariel Rot, and Inés Hernand. The event, held at Plaza de la Constitución, combined music with political reivindication. Rocío Zarzalejos of Señora! delivered a punk set, declaring 'Estamos hasta las narices de que opinen de nuestros cuerpos' ('We are fed up with people opining about our bodies'). Ignacio Escolar, during the inauguration, warned that 'the attempt to cancel this festival is a foretaste of what is to come.' Despite high June temperatures, the festival served as a space for collective memory, resistance, and citizen gathering.
