Ferrania's Photographic Legacy Explored in Genoa Exhibition
The exhibition 'Memorie su pellicola. Ferrania fabbrica di immagini' opens September 10, 2026, at Palazzo Ducale in Genoa, running through September 27. Curated by Alessandra Villa, it juxtaposes archival materials from the Ferrania Film Museum in Cairo Montenotte with contemporary photographs by Michela Vernazza. The show traces the history of the Ferrania film factory, originally F.I.L.M. (Fabbrica Italiana Lamine Milano), and its impact on the Val Bormida region and Italian industrial heritage. Archival items, largely from family collections, depict a bygone era of industrial life, while Vernazza's analog images reflect on memory and intangible heritage. The project is part of the Generazione 2026 initiative, supported by Palazzo Ducale Fondazione per la Cultura, in collaboration with Ferrania Film Museum, Comune di Cairo Montenotte, and FAI Giovani Liguria. The venue is Sala Dogana at Piazza Giacomo Matteotti, 9.
