Fengyuan Residence by Mao, Shen-Chiang Architecture Studio Turns Inward in Taichung

architecture-design · 2026-10-05

Mao, Shen-Chiang Architecture Studio has completed the Fengyuan Residence, a 222 m² house in Taichung, Taiwan, finished in 2025. The project was curated by Miwa Negoro, with photographs by Kuo-Min Lee, and appears under the Casas category. Mao Shen-Chiang served as principal architect, working with a design team that included Hong Hui-Chen. Shih Ao Fair-Faced Concrete acted as general contractor, while structural engineering was handled by YONG HO ENGINEERING CO., LTD. and MEP engineering by AD Engineering Corporation. According to the project description submitted by the team, the site is surrounded by neighboring buildings and urban roads, leaving few outward views. Rather than pursuing an external landscape, the design turns inward, producing a protected space of security, calm and comfort that accommodates an artificial nature — a "second nature" belonging to its inhabitants.
