Federico González Sosa's 'Por simpatía III' at Río & Meñaka

At Río & Meñaka gallery in Madrid, Federico González Sosa presents 'Por simpatía III', an installation running until August 2026. The exhibition features dismantled pianos stripped to their harmonic tables, revealing the instruments' essential organs. These tables are displayed as autonomous bodies that receive, transmit, and modify vibrations. Activated by transducers, they are traversed by compositions built from field recordings, sound archives, conversations, and personal recollections, including the last notes played on each piano before disassembly. The work explores 'sympathetic vibration', a concept from acoustics that here becomes a metaphor for relationships between beings, objects, and places. The harmonic tables bear marks of their history—tension from strings, repairs, transformations—linking material memory to sonic memory. The installation transforms the gallery space into a resonant field where sound circulates between materials and surfaces, evoking spectral presences without identifiable origins.
