Federico Cantini: Carving Faith in Wood

Federico Cantini (b. 1991, Rosario) is an Argentine artist who works across drawing, carving, and modeling, often using urban pruning waste as material. He runs Jamaica ATR, his home-studio-gallery in Rosario, and has been represented by Galería Pasto in Buenos Aires for eight years. In 2025, he presented the exhibition "HOY" at Pasto, featuring bas-reliefs in cypress, ficus, and poplar wood that explore the impossibility of the present. His installation "Yo adivino el parpadeo," a series of modified public lampposts, was shown at Malba Puertos in 2024. In 2025, his work "Zarpada" was included in "El orden imposible del mundo" at Fundación PROA, curated by Francisco Lemus. He also taught a sculpture workshop titled "Vivir en el intento | Escultura y Fe" at Casa Vanzo Wernicke in Rosario in February 2025 and 2026. Cantini emphasizes the value of craftsmanship, inspired by his late uncle, master artisan Ovidio Vivas, and seeks to bring the patient, silent dialogue with material into contemporary art.
