Faye Toogood's 'Lie Low' bed for Poltrona Frau debuts at Milan Design Week with wrinkled leather comfort

Faye Toogood's latest collaboration with Poltrona Frau introduces the 'Lie Low' bed and matching bedside table at Milan Design Week. The designer's sculptural approach combines with the Italian manufacturer's leather expertise, featuring a headboard that showcases intentionally wrinkled leather rather than taut surfaces. Toogood describes the bed as 'entirely embracing you,' celebrating the artisans' craft while proposing new material processes. This follows her 2024 'Squash' collection for Poltrona Frau, which included mirrors, rugs, and an armchair described by CEO Nicola Coropulis as epitomizing comfort and innovation. The earlier collection was characterized by Toogood as 'English Folk with Italian Horsepower,' working with the heritage of the Tolentino-based company. Toogood has collaborated with Poltrona Frau artisans for several years, focusing on their hands-on knowledge and skill. The new bed design emphasizes informal comfort through gathered leather that reveals movement and malleability.
