Faye Toogood Debuts 'Faces & Figures' Tile Collection with Mutina in Italy

architecture-design · 2026-09-23

Faye Toogood, a British designer, has unveiled her inaugural tile collection titled 'Faces & Figures' in partnership with Italian ceramic producer Mutina, showcased at their headquarters in Fiorano Modenese, Italy. Toogood, who had previously turned down offers from other tile manufacturers, sought to infuse a handmade essence into Mutina's industrial aesthetic. The design process commenced in her London studio, leading to the creation of geometric tiles available in three sizes and four colors—chalk, sand, clay, and mud—with options for both glossy and matte finishes. Additionally, the collection includes two organic shapes and extruded bricks, featuring sculptural designs inspired by the human form. Transitioning from magazine editing to design, Toogood highlights the importance of a human touch in her creations, akin to her furniture design philosophy.
