Fashion Performance Film 'Blood Flower Bloom' Explores Resilience Through Winter Imagery

A fashion performance film titled 'Blood Flower Bloom' was created in Brandenburg, Germany, during February. The project features performance artist Jon Darc, who embodies the Queen of the Night flower as a metaphor for emergence in challenging conditions. Fashion label ELIE MANUEL™ contributed architectural garments that blend minimalist and brutalist elements, drawing inspiration from carnivorous plants to explore themes of beauty and danger. Berlin-based photographer and filmmaker Jessica Taylor directed the cinematic adaptation, capturing the live performance against snowy winter landscapes. Polish Berlin-based photographer Diana Shuleshnyova collaborated on still photography that examines interactions between fabric, skin, and environment. The work combines performance, fashion design, and visual storytelling to address themes of resilience, vulnerability, and identity. Set in winter conditions, it presents fashion as more than seasonal adornment, transforming it into expressive structure. The project challenges conventional fashion perceptions by emphasizing protective yet organic qualities through deliberate artistic choices.
