FarseerTech's RocXZoom: World's First Robotic Extreme Zoom Camera Raises $247K on Kickstarter

FarseerTech, established by ex-DJI imaging engineers, has unveiled the RocXZoom, a compact camera featuring a 50x hybrid zoom, motorized pan-and-tilt, and AI-driven subject recognition. The Kickstarter initiative has successfully garnered $247,029, surpassing its $9,999 target. This camera boasts a 20x optical zoom and a 50x hybrid zoom (equivalent to 40mm to 2,000mm), utilizing a Type 1/2.5 sensor. An integrated AI chip can identify and follow over 300 animal species through a YOLO-based model and Siamese Network. The gimbal reacts within 0.01 seconds and can track subjects moving at speeds of 10-20 m/s. Features include a 5-inch OLED screen, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB-C, and an IP54-rated aluminum body weighing 400 grams, with a battery life of up to four hours. It records video in 4K at 30fps and 1080p at 30/60fps. The RocXZoom Pro, designed for existing cameras, accommodates payloads of up to five kilograms, with a separate tracking camera available for $249. Early-bird pricing starts at $449 for the camera and $849 for the Pro Kit. The project was showcased at CES 2026, but specifications are still in pre-production and may change; independent testing is forthcoming.
