Fala Architects Designs Colorful Book Fair Stand for Circo de Ideas

architecture-design · 2026-04-07

Fala Architects created a distinctive stand for the Circo de Ideas book fair in 2024, working within the constraints of a standard 3x3 meter booth typically used for shelves and a counter. The project team, led by Filipe Magalhães, Ana Luisa Soares, Ahmed Belkhodja, and Lera Samovich, transformed leftover metal profiles into an installation that rejects neutrality. Instead of conventional design, they repainted these structural elements in a deliberately fresh, almost excessive color palette. Photography documenting the 10-square-meter structure was handled by Lera Samovich and Francisco Ascensão. Curated by Susanna Moreira, the stand was produced by Artworks. The architects embraced the installation's inherent limitations while creating visual impact through unexpected material reuse and vibrant colors.
