Ex Soup Brings Mexico City's Discarded Materials to MASA Galería in First Solo Show
Established in 2023 with support from a FONCA grant, Ex Soup, a design studio in Mexico City, is spearheaded by Javier Guzman and Ulises Morin. They recently launched their exhibition, Stirring the Broth: Recipes for Chewing and Digesting Persistent Matter, at MASA Galería. Originally focused on furniture, the project has expanded to encompass lighting, objects, museography, and installations. Guzman has a background in architecture utilizing natural materials, while Morin is an alumnus of UNAM. Their recent endeavors include Vochorama and a museography collaboration at Casa Lago UNAM with Óscar Gutiérrez. The studio employs assemblage techniques, sourcing materials from Mexico City and East London, and aims for kinetic qualities in future projects, describing their style as 'constructive transparency' in an 'infinite game'.
