EVA architecten Renovates Kromme Rijn College in Utrecht with New Extension
EVA architecten has finalized the renovation and expansion of the Kromme Rijn College (KRC) located at Rubenslaan 91 in Utrecht, Netherlands. Originally built between 1956 and 1958 by architect Piet Dingemans (1910–1970), the former ULO secondary school had remained unoccupied for over two decades until local residents intervened to prevent its demolition. After investigations by Stichting Mevrouw Meijer, SPO Utrecht, and the Municipality of Utrecht, plans were set in motion to revitalize the building and create an extension for the KRC. Spanning 1,550 m², the project is overseen by principal architects Jeroen Baars and Sharona Sinke, with various engineering and consulting contributions. The completion is anticipated in 2026, with photography by Sebastian van Damme, ensuring the preservation of notable post-war Dutch school architecture for modern educational purposes.
