Ettore Greco: Sculptor of Emotion Interviewed at I Martedì Critici

Italian sculptor Ettore Greco, a Padua-born artist and son of a painter, was the featured guest of I Martedì Critici, a series curated by Alberto Dambruoso with Loredana Rea. The event took place at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Frosinone, where Greco discussed his career. He trained at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia, where he now teaches. Greco's sculptures focus on human emotions like fear, despair, anger, joy, and surprise, with deliberately imperfect surfaces that reveal the artist's touch. After leaving the academy, he opened a studio in Padua, drawing inspiration from Rodin, whom he honored with a work exhibited in Legnano in 2010. He won the Grand Prix for sculpture at the Salon Grands et Jeunes d'Aujourd'hui in Paris and studied in the French capital, where he connected with Pierre Cardin. Cardin featured Greco in his creative space during the 2002 Venice Biennale. Greco also created a sculpture for the Château du Marquis de Sade in Lacoste. His recent works include a San Francesco sculpture for the Italian Embassy in Paris, and his pieces have been shown in Berlin, Brussels, London, and New York. He works primarily in clay, plaster, and bronze, often focusing on partial body forms that emphasize detail over completeness.
