Estorick Collection Hosts First Show Outside Italy on Wanda and Marion Wulz
The Estorick Collection in London is hosting its inaugural exhibition outside of Italy, showcasing the avant-garde photographer sisters Wanda and Marion Wulz, titled Wanda and Marion Wulz: Avant-garde Photography in 20th-Century Italy. This exhibit runs from 16 September to 20 December and features pieces from the Wulz archive at Fondazione Alinari per la Fotografia, including negatives and prints from Studio Wulz, which was established in the 1860s. The sisters managed the studio from 1928 until 1981. A project launched in 2023 facilitated the exhibition by reorganizing the archive, which has prioritized revealing the work of female photographers since 2020, highlighting 5,165 negatives by the sisters. Wanda was known for her experimental approach, while Marion concentrated on photojournalism during WWII.
