Espella Collective Presents 'The Art of Allowing' at Temple Gallery, Lower East Side
Espella Collective, run by Shayenna and Victoria, opens its latest group exhibition, "The Art of Allowing," tonight, October 2, 2026, at Temple Gallery on the Lower East Side. The show examines grief, loss, and acceptance. One participating artist is showing photographs taken during their mother's final days in hospice in November 2023. The opening runs from 7 to 9:30pm. The gallery will be open on October 3 from 1 to 9pm and on October 4 from 1 to 6pm. A spoken word event is scheduled for Saturday at 5pm, and a crafts section will be available throughout the show's run. The artist describes the experience as profoundly self-healing, nearly three years after their mother's death, and expresses gratitude for the chance to exhibit alongside close friends and meet new artists. The exhibition is free and open to all. Full details are available at the Partiful link: https://partiful.com/e/Vh9LaaLQqX1SrxLICz4F.
