ESMA Adds 14 Firms to MiCA Register, Ripple Among Newcomers
On July 16, the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) revealed that it has added 14 new firms to its Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) register, increasing the number of licensed crypto-asset service providers in the EU to 294. Notably, Ripple Payments Europe SA has gained approval to offer regulated crypto services across the region. This announcement comes after the conclusion of MiCA's 18-month transitional period on July 1. Ripple's CASP license, granted by Luxembourg's CSSF earlier in July, allows it to operate in all 29 EU member states. Other significant additions include Bison Bank, Hrvatska poštanska banka, and Kaiser Partner Privatbank. Moreover, BitPay received MiCA authorization from the Dutch AFM. AMLA chair Bruna Szego warned of potential increases in withdrawals as firms exit the market.
