Escura Unveils InstantSnap.novo Toy Camera with Screen and Interchangeable Viewfinder

Escura has released the InstantSnap.novo, a redesigned version of its InstantSnap toy camera, which originally launched in March 2025 for $50 and was shaped like an instant photo print. The new model, reported by CAPA Camera Web, adds a rear screen and shifts from a vertical to a landscape orientation, allowing photographers to check shots immediately. The viewfinder remains see-through and centrally positioned, but is now interchangeable, with options for a rule-of-thirds grid or a golden ratio (Fibonacci) overlay, plus a mirrored mode for selfies. The image sensor has been upgraded from one megapixel to five megapixels. The camera offers digital filters mimicking old-school digital and film cameras, including a Y2K filter, and captures 2560×1440 JPEG photos and video up to 1440×1080 at 30p. Like many toy cameras, it has a built-in rechargeable battery that will eventually degrade. The InstantSnap.novo is available now in Japan for 8,894 yen (over $57) and online through Pinkoi for $61.08, in clear, translucent green (mint), and solid white. The release follows Godox's similar C100 camera, which PetaPixel's Chris Niccolls criticized.
