Endless Summer 2026: A Curatorial Device for Multiplicity at Cervia's Magazzino del Sale

The second edition of 'Endless Summer,' curated by MAGMA, opened at the Magazzino del Sale in Cervia, Italy, running until July 1, 2026. The exhibition interprets summer as a perceptual state where time dilates and new sensibilities emerge, suspended between present intensity and transience. Directed by Gioele Melandri and Alex Montanaro, the show involves three project spaces—Gelateria Sogni di Ghiaccio, Fertile, and Toast Project—and five curators: Viola Emaldi, Antonio Grulli, Milovan Farronato, Cornelia Mattiacci, and Saverio Verini. Over fifty artists were selected, ranging from emerging talents like Giulia Poppi (Modena, 1992) and Shafei Xia (Shaoxing, 1989) to established names such as Maurizio Cattelan (Padua, 1960), Eva Marisaldi (Bologna, 1966), and Nan Goldin (Washington D.C., 1953). The exhibition features video, sculpture, painting, and installations arranged sequentially, fostering dialogues between diverse artistic languages. A notable pairing is between Lucia Leuchi (Biscele, 1977) and Goshka Macuga (Warsaw, 1967): Leuchi's work combines traditional materials with historical symbolism and lunar lyricism, while Macuga presents a volcanic red explosion evoking entropy and cyclical regeneration. MAGMA aims to create a fertile ground for new comparisons among very different artists, positioning 'Endless Summer' not as a simple intergenerational or thematic show but as a curatorial device that transforms multiplicity into rhythm.
