Endi Tupja's 'Bones Touching Water' at Lateral Roma

Lateral Roma is showcasing 'Bones Touching Water,' the inaugural Italian solo exhibition of Endi Tupja, under the curation of Marta Federici. This exhibition challenges the portrayal of the ideal Albanian woman, particularly through the lens of Diella, an AI minister launched by the Albanian government in 2025, who faced a corruption scandal. Actress Anila Bisha is pursuing compensation for the unauthorized use of her image. The focus is on Adelina Sejdini, a trafficking survivor who advocated for victims' rights in Italy and tragically took her life in the Tiber River in November 2021. Tupja's film 'The Rivers of Empires Look All Alike' (2025) addresses stereotypes and the amnesia of colonial history, featuring archival materials that critique media representations of migrants.
