Encore at Australian Museum of Performing Arts Marks 50 Years of Arts Centre Melbourne Collection
Encore, the second exhibition at the Australian Museum of Performing Arts (AMPA) in Melbourne, has launched to commemorate 50 years of the Arts Centre Melbourne (ACM) performing arts collection. Curated by Ian Jackson, this showcase includes 50 artifacts selected from a vast collection of around 875,000 items. Notable pieces on display feature Kylie Minogue's iconic gold hotpants, Archie Roach's denim vest, Dame Nellie Melba's bejeweled cape, Joan Sutherland's gown, and Helen Reddy's Grammy award. The exhibition, which also honors First Nations performance traditions, will be open until 9 May 2027. Originally intended to be AMPA's inaugural exhibition, Encore was delayed due to the collaboration with the Victoria & Albert Museum titled Diva.
