Emmanuel Louisnord Desir's 'Rough Ways of the Delicate Ones' Opens at Sebastian Gladstone in Los Angeles
Emmanuel Louisnord Desir presents his second solo exhibition, 'Rough Ways of the Delicate Ones,' at the Sebastian Gladstone Gallery in Los Angeles. This showcase includes eight fresh pieces that delve into themes of metamorphosis, endurance, and reclamation. The exhibition's title draws inspiration from Baruch 4:26, as Desir reinterprets delicacy to signify vulnerability amidst challenges. His artwork merges elements of bodies, creatures, machines, and symbols. Following his previous exhibition, 'Born to Win,' this collection reflects on the influence of ancient systems on physicality. Standout pieces are 'Field Resonator 4,' 'Lukewarm/Double Minded Nature,' and 'SOS Radio Telescope.' Desir critiques a society that values productivity over humanity, while 'Fury of the Saints' references Ezekiel 37, illustrating the tension between corruption and renewal.
