Elmgreen & Dragset Occupy Both Max Hetzler Spaces in Paris With 'Les Fous d'En Face'

exhibition · 2026-10-17

Michael Elmgreen and Ingar Dragset take over both Paris addresses of Galerie Max Hetzler, two spaces facing each other across rue du Temple in the 4th arrondissement. Titled 'Les Fous d'En Face', the exhibition runs from 19 October to 16 December 2026 at 46 and 57 rue du Temple. The Scandinavian duo, active together for thirty years, is known for staged environments that deceive: galleries converted into phantom shops or apartments of imaginary collectors, filled with hyperrealist sculptures acting as bit players in a half-guessed narrative. At Max Hetzler the two facing rooms answer one another, with works titled 'The Optimist', 'How to Become an Artist' and 'Il Mio Giardino announcing their tone with tenderness and irony. Crossing from one pavement to the other, the story shifts chapter and the visitor shifts role. Entry is free; opening hours are Tuesday to Friday 10am-6pm and Saturday 11am-7pm, near Métro Rambuteau (line 11) and Hôtel de Ville (lines 1 and 11).
