Ella Langley's "Choosin' Texas" Breaks Mariah Carey's Billboard Hot 100 Record with 24 Weeks at No. 1

Ella Langley's country song "Choosin' Texas" has achieved a remarkable milestone by spending 24 weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, breaking the previous record of 22 weeks held by Mariah Carey’s "All I Want for Christmas Is You." Journalist Ryan Broderick observed that many Americans are not familiar with the song. Victoria Banks attributed the record's success to algorithm-driven Spotify playlists and commended the song's lyrics. Andrew Unterberger from Billboard pointed out the historical marginalization of country music on mainstream pop radio. Since 2023, 11 out of 32 country tracks have reached No. 1, with five in the current top ten. TikTok also played a role, highlighted by Lane Gorrell's viral dance. Langley, 27, has been releasing music since 2018, gaining recognition with "You Look Like You Love Me." "Choosin' Texas" debuted on Italian radio in March 2026.
