Elinor Carucci's Intimate Photographic Exploration of Motherhood and Personal Life

Israeli-born photographer Elinor Carucci, now based in New York, creates autobiographical photographic work focused on domestic life, family relationships, and motherhood. Her images are characterized by close-up compositions, natural lighting, and an authentic approach to personal experience. A notable example is her 'Mother' series, which documents the physical and emotional dimensions of motherhood without idealization. Carucci was born in Jerusalem in 1971, studied at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, and her work is held in collections including the Museum of Modern Art, Jewish Museum, and Brooklyn Museum in New York, as well as the Houston Museum of Fine Arts and Harwood Museum of Art. She currently teaches at the School of Visual Arts in New York.
