Elie Saab x H&M: Red-Carpet Glamour for the Masses

Elie Saab, the renowned Lebanese fashion designer celebrated for his glamorous red-carpet attire, is joining forces with H&M to unveil a 55-piece collection on October 22. This range encompasses evening gowns, casual wear, outerwear, knitwear, and accessories, with prices spanning from €29.99 to €399. Saab, who has styled stars such as Zendaya, Olivia Dean, and Eva Longoria, mentioned that the timing for this collaboration felt right, prioritizing craftsmanship and consistency over fleeting trends. Elie Saab Jr., the brand's vice chairman and CEO, highlighted a 35% annual growth and the necessity of adapting the brand's essence for a fresh audience. Ann-Sofie Johansson, H&M's creative advisor, pointed out the difficulties in mimicking Saab's artisanal techniques, including a spontaneously draped bustier dress. The collection showcases signature elements like gradient sequins, lace embroidery, and faux fur in shades of black, gold, and emerald green. Johansson noted that innovations in recycled fabrics enabled the creation of certain items, such as a faux fur jacket, building on insights from H&M's 2015 collaboration with Balmain. Designed for versatility and durability, the collection aims for pieces that transcend seasonal wear. Saab Jr. described the line as embodying the Elie Saab lifestyle, while Johansson emphasized the significance of collaboration between distinct brands. The collection will be available in select H&M stores and online starting October 22.
