Elgato Launches Wave Go Convertible Wireless Mic for USB-C Devices at $99.99
Elgato has released the Wave Go, a wireless microphone that switches between a clip-on transmitter and a handheld unit. The capsule sits inside a microphone-shaped holder Elgato calls a "smart handle," which carries controls for power, recording and muting plus a battery that recharges the transmitter during use. Total runtime reaches 48 hours, dropping to eight hours in clip-on mode; a 10-minute quick charge adds an hour. The system detects which configuration is in use and adjusts recording accordingly. Unlike many rivals, the Wave Go targets USB-C phones and computers rather than professional digital cameras, working only through its USB-C receiver, with Bluetooth reserved for the companion app. Wireless range is up to 100 feet (30 meters). There is no onboard recording, the receiver pairs with at most two mics, and audio tops out at 24-bit. The kit ships now for $99.99 with the receiver, smart handle and one mic; a second mic costs $14.99 at launch against a $29.99 regular price. Finishes are black and sky blue.
