ELEMENTAL Rebuilds Constitución Municipal Theater After 2010 Chile Earthquake
In 2024, the ELEMENTAL firm, founded by renowned architect Alejandro Aravena, finalized the renovation of the Constitución Municipal Theater in Chile. Spanning 1,500 square meters, this endeavor, overseen by Valentina Díaz and captured in images by Estudio Palma, marks a significant milestone following the theater's destruction in the catastrophic earthquake and tsunami of February 27, 2010, which devastated much of the town. The project received guidance from key architects including Aravena, Juan Ignacio Cerda, and Diego Torres, supported by various engineers and a team of dedicated professionals, while it was commissioned by the local municipality of Constitución.
