Elaine Dee Rose's Abstract Expressionist Journey from Collage to Acrylic

Since 2010, Elaine Dee Rose has been showcasing her talent as an award-winning abstract expressionist artist specializing in mixed media and acrylics. Initially, her artistic journey involved collage and mixed media, incorporating vintage ephemera, handmade papers, and found objects, before shifting her focus to abstract acrylic painting. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education with an Art minor and has experience in educational and office settings. A significant turning point occurred in eighth grade when an art teacher acknowledged her abstract thinking, further nurtured by the creative freedom she experienced in college. Her acclaimed mixed media collage "Girl on Fire," inspired by Alicia Keys' song, depicts a woman at her studio's entrance, surrounded by vibrant colors that embody creative energy. This piece utilizes monoprints, handmade papers, magazines, altered papers, acrylic inks, and modeling paste. Currently, she is working on a textured abstract painting that evolved from a vertical to a horizontal landscape. Her artwork is part of private collections and has gained accolades in juried exhibitions.
