Eisenkot Accuses Netanyahu of Prioritizing Survival Over Security

At a rally in Rosh Haayin, central Israel, on Monday, Gadi Eisenkot, the main challenger to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, criticized Netanyahu for prioritizing his own political goals over the nation's safety. Eisenkot, a former military chief and a newcomer in politics, presented candidates from his Yashar party ahead of the election on October 27. He avoided delving into the Palestinian situation or the conflicts with Iran and Lebanon but slammed Netanyahu for dodging responsibility since the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023. His party, launched a year ago, is gaining traction as many voters see him as a viable option due to his military background. Eisenkot emphasized the need for unity and questioned the privileges given to ultra-Orthodox men, insisting that it’s time to end the government's lack of accountability.
