Eisbach Treasures: Tao Schirrmacher's Drowned Archive at Haus der Kunst

'Eisbach Treasures', an exhibition by Tao Schirrmacher, a renowned surfer on the Eisbach wave, is currently on display at the Haus der Kunst in Munich. Curated by Sabine Brantl, this showcase is located in the museum's Archivgalerie. Schirrmacher, who took up surfing in the early 2000s and has clinched several European championships, initiated the project titled 'Lost and Drowned'. The exhibition includes various items such as keys, watches, and skateboards, all recovered from the riverbed and presented in galvanized wire baskets beneath Plexiglas. Since the 1970s, the Eisbach has transformed from a tranquil river into a popular urban surfing destination, illustrating a complex historical legacy and human actions.
